Description
Join artist Alani Ramas to learn about the inspiration behind her work, displayed in the Magazine Beach Park Nature Center through June. She aims to bridge the gap between natural preservation and human destruction.
'There was a time before humans, and there will be a time after. As consumers, we take and build from nature, however, we are never quick to replace the havoc we have wreaked on the earth. I draw from observations I have encountered within my environment and education and convey these findings through drawing and sculpture. In my work, I am exploring and experimenting with how far I can integrate natural elements into my pieces. Centering my subject matter around nature has been my focus, though now I am going further and putting more trust into the plants I work with, allowing them a say in my art. Integrating and emphasizing the more-than-human world is how I do my part in calling for environmental action."
